About

I am, at my core, a musician. I am meticulous and impulsive, calm and fiery, laid back and intense. I often battle to maintain a balance between the creative and intellectual sides of my personality. The San Francisco music scene of the 70s and 80s was an ideal environment to develop my deep love of melody and loud, intricate guitar. Through my early musical experiences, I came to understand the power of collaboration, both in the success of a single band and in the evolution of an entire music scene. Without music as a primary fuel, I would not be the software engineer, DJ or father that I am today.

I am attracted to vocally rich, melodic music with a ‘heavy’ slant. Among my early influences you will find Aerosmith, UFO, the Scorpions and Rainbow, but I have an immense appetite and welcome every new generation of heavy music. Lately, I have been enjoying the works of Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, My Chemical Romance, Charon and Poisonblack. Unlike the common assumptions about heavy, aggressive music, it's a source of calm and focus for me and is one of the few places where I really feel at home. Although listening to heavy music is a big part of my life, creating music is the ultimate experience for me. I'm mostly a "music" guy but I've been lucky to collaborate actively with Steve Rosenthal, an amazing drummer and a mostly "words" guy. We recently released the product of our collaboration, the album "Wrong Train" by our band, Scattershock.

This blog is my attempt to share my own thoughts on music and to make contact with others who live and breathe heavy music.
